The Class A All-State and

All-Conference soccer honoree lists were released last week and

seven Bigfork athletes were recipients, including senior Caitlin

Charlebois, who was named All-State.

Charlebois scored 18 of the Valkyries’

39 goals this season and had five assists. She finished the season

ranked third for most goals and for most points among all Class A

girls soccer players and was tied for 12th in assists.

Also representing the Vals on the

All-Conference list were Quinci Paine, Miranda Miller, Taylor

McElroy and Kenna Hauns. Paine scored eight goals this season and

had two assists. She was ranked 13th in the state among Class A

teams for most goals in a season. This is the third-straight year

that Paine and Charlebois have received All-Conference honors.

Hauns had four goals and four assists

this season, Miller had four goals and one assist, and McElroy had

one goal and two assists.

“For the second straight year, Bigfork

has been honored by having a high number of girls selected for

All-Conference awards,”said Charlie Appleby, Bigfork’s head girls

soccer coach. “I am so pleased by the respect our team was given by

the other coaches in the conference. I know how hard all of the

girls played this season and to be able to give even five of these

girls the recognition they deserve is a wonderful thing.”

While Appleby, who in his first year as

head coach helped the girls reach the state playoffs for the first

time since 2003, said he was excited for the girls who were

selected for the honors, he also noted that “most if not all of our

girls probably could have been given a year-end award” and that one

factor that may have kept them from the award was their position on

the team.

“Looking at the selections from our

team, I see that our girls who were relegated to defense for the

whole season did not get recognized,” Appleby said. “The reason is

that we just did not have a ton of great defensive games this

season, yet each player on the defense was incredibly talented and

played through their own hardships.”

From the Vikings soccer team,

goalkeeper Nate Roberson and Fabian Zavala made the All-Conference

list.

“They were chosen due to their example

on and off the field   — the quality of person they are, not simply

their abilities as players,” said Keith Koslosky, head boys soccer

coach. “It was my honor and enjoyment coaching them the past four

years. I will miss them and I wish them all the best as they are

soon to venture out into the world beyond Bigfork. I am proud of

their accomplishment and the way they finished the season. I am

happy for them in that they both scored goals in their final high

school soccer match.”

This year Roberson scored one goal and

had one assist despite playing keeper for all but the final week of

the season. Zavala scored two goals.
