Skybridge
In recent weeks, several letters and at least one or two articles related to the 'skyway" over Wisconsin Avenue have been published in your paper. Many are oriented towards "well, there is not much we can do about it now."
I believe there is a lot we can do. First, the middle section is allegedly 'removeable" or raiseable, so that if larger vehicles must pass through some time in the future, they can.
Why not remove the middle, install an arched walkway in its place, with a lot less "trailer look" and a lot more ambiance (which the lodge owners and their architect should have had in mind in the first place).
Secondly, any architectural review process over a public street, or in the face of the public as this one is, should have much more scrutiny and public input for the review process. Perhaps that would save it from ever happening again.
Lastly, I always have a little chuckle every time I pass under it, as it reminds me of the Wizard of Oz blowing in a trailer. At least I can try to keep my sense of humor. Perhaps a good gust of wind will remove it some day.
