Bruce Babcock
Bruce J. Babcock, 65, died April 29, 2010, in Whitefish.
He was born in Yakima, Wash., to Ralph and Mary (Woodin) Babcock on July 21, 1944.
Following graduation from high school, Bruce lived in many different places throughout the country doing many different types of work. He resided in Montana for the past decade, living first in Eureka and later in Whitefish.
Survivors include his sister Barbara McAlpine, of Whistler, B.C.
Services will take place at the Whitefish Nazarene Church on Thursday, May 6 (today), at 2 p.m. with coffee hour following at Montana Coffee Traders. Interment will follow at Fortine Cemetery at 5 p.m. followed by a celebration of life at Jax Cafe in Eureka.
Peter Viano
Peter John "Pete" Viano, 84, passed away April 22, 2010, at Wel-Life in Kalispell.
He was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Kalispell, the son of Gaston and Mary (Zadra) Viano. The second of two children, he received his primary education in a one room school house near the current West Valley School site.
Pete worked several jobs before starting a 36-year career as a switchman and brakeman for Great Northern Railroad in 1949. He retired in 1985 from Burlington Northern Railroad.
Pete married Kathryn "Kay" Greco in 1946. They were married for 61 years before her death in 2007.
Pete loved the Flathead Valley and the many friends he had here. Over the years, he and Kay enjoyed trips in the U.S., Mexico and Europe as well as several winters in Yuma, Ariz., with many of these friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
He is survived by his sons Ron Viano and wife Nancy, of Boise, Idaho, and Larry Viano and wife Cindy, of Kalispell; daughter Debbie Sprague and husband Michael, of Boise; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister Della Spindler, of Plains; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home on April 28, 2010, with Fred Topp officiating. Burial followed at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
