In the past week, the pool of candidates for the open Bigfork School District superintendent position has gone through a series of changes.

Two candidates for the position paid a visit to the Village last week as part of the interview process. Both Harry Cheff, current superintendent of Colstrip Public Schools, and George Linthicum, current superintendent of Target Range School in the Missoula area, traveled to Bigfork for visits that included a session with the board, a tour of the community and an open forum with community members and staff. Cheff has since withdrawn from the search.

Another candidate, Ron Windom, will be in town April 7, with a community forum session scheduled for 3:15 p.m. in the high school music room. Windom is currently the superintendent at Melrose Municipal Schools in New Mexico.

A fourth candidate was recently added to the line up. Cynthia Clary, current superintendent of the Van Vleck Independent School District in Texas, is also scheduled to be in town April 7, with a community forum following Windom's at 4:30 p.m. The job posting has not closed for the position and Clary was a later applicant which the board recently reviewed and decided to interview.
