Errors plague Twins in Missoula tourney

The Glacier Twins went 1-4 at Missoula's Dahlgren Memorial Day Tournament on Friday through Sunday, topping Bozeman 5-2 in their lone win behind a strong performance on the mound from Kyle Yogodzinski.

"Kyle went all seven and kept us in the ball game," coach Lindsay Fansler said. "And we got some timely hitting that was missing from the other three games."

Dustin VonFeldt chipped in with a double and two RBIs to lead the Twins offensively.

The Twins dropped games to Missoula and Helena, and lost a 7-3 heartbreaker to Coeur d'Alene.

Tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the sixth with the Lumberman, a handful of fielding errors cost the Twins the game. With two outs, Coeur d'Alene rallied for four runs to open up a four-run lead.

"We had a long rain delay, and mentally we weren't prepared to finish the game," Fansler said about the late slip up. "We have to be focused on being there mentally."

Fansler liked the effort the team showed in Missoula, and he hopes the team can build on the experience.

"We didn't get results we liked, but our focus is moving into the conference season now," he said. "We have to learn from the tournament and get better from it."
