Tuesday a tough one for area drivers
A motorcyclist was killed in a head-on collision with a car Tuesday (July 13) afternoon on U.S. Highway 2 close to the Stanton Creek Lodge.
The eastbound cyclist, whose name was not immediately available, apparently crossed the centerline and hit a Chevrolet car traveling westbound on a tight blind curve. Based on skid marks, it appeared that the motorcycle veered into the car's lane, striking the driver's side.
The driver of the car survived the accident.
There were several other accidents in the area Tuesday as well. A two-vehicle collision earlier in the day on U.S. Highway 2 near the turn-off to West Glacier sent at least one person to the hospital with a head injury.
Then later Tuesday afternoon a car hit a recreational vehicle in the Bad Rock Canyon section of U.S. Highway 2.
No one appeared to be injured in that accident.
In addition, there was another wreck at the intersection of Second Avenue and Second Street West in Columbia Falls. One vehicle was nearly totaled with significant front end damage and the other vehicle had side impact damage.
No one appeared seriously injured in the accident, though the airbags did deploy in the heavily damaged car.
