The Hockaday Museum of Art’s 42nd annual Arts in the Park festival will be held in Kalispell’s historic downtown Depot Park on July 23-25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Kalispell’s premiere arts, crafts, and music festival will feature more than 100 local and visiting artists and craftsmen, a variety of musical and dancing entertainment, and numerous food vendors. Purchase of a $5 weekend pass button gives unlimited admission to the festival all three days, as well as admission to the Hockaday Museum of Art from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the festival. Daily admission will be $3. Children six and under are admitted free with their family.

The first annual Stumptown BBQ Smoke Off will be held in Depot Park on July 24-25 from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday with professional and amateur teams from across the Flathead Valley, the Pacific Northwest and several surrounding states and live music both days, a hog calling contest at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, vendors and a beer garden, and a Miss Piggy contest at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The Sherwood second annual softball tournament, sponsored by Sherwood Sports Bar and Grille, will take place in Whitefish on Saturday and Sunday, July 24-25. The co-rec competition has a four-game guarantee. For more information, call 862-3400.
A used book sale sponsored by Veni Legi Vici will be held at the Mountain Mall on Saturday and Sunday, July 24 and 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds will promote Learn to Read Programs in the Flathead Valley.

The Flathead Valley Community College Foundation will host summer tours of the Bibler Home and Gardens beginning with a kick-off reception Monday, July 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring a wine reception with light hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $50 adults and $90 couples. Tours of the gardens and the home’s collection of antiques, sculptures and heirloom Persian carpets will take place July 27-30. Tickets are $10 adults and $3 children. All tickets must be purchased in advance. The University of Montana’s Flathead Lake Biological Station will hold an open house on Tuesday, July 27, from 1-5 p.m. with guided nature walks and a demonstration boat trip on the research vessel Jessie B.
