The loss of two of our own

Letter from the editor

The journalist community in the Flathead Valley suffered a terrible blow last week with the loss of two valuable members. Daily Inter Lake reporters Erika Hoefer and Melissa Weaver died in a tragic plane crash southwest of Dixon on June 27.

For me, these strong, passionate women were more than just colleagues — they were my friends. Both were full of life and talent and were an inspiration to those who knew them. Their reporting, laughter and friendship will be sorely missed.

Our hearts go out to their families, friends and co-workers as well as those of the other two victims in the crash, Brian Williams and Sonny Kless.

'An edition'

You may notice something different on the front page of the paper this week. The words "An edition of the Daily Inter Lake" now appear below our flag.

This was a change we had to make to ensure the Eagle's distribution is audited.

Aside from those seven words appearing on the paper, nothing has changed.
