Christine “Chris” Ann Rupp

Christine “Chris” Ann Rupp, 59, was called home on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010 after a long battle with illness, surrounded by her family at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She was born on June 22, 1951 in Chicago, Ill., to Bill and Erma (Nuss) Rocksund.

Chris moved to Whitefish as a child. She attended Whitefish High School and was involved in an assortment of different activities, such as cheerleading, skiing, swimming, track, fishing and working on the family farm.

She loved life and after high school worked at North Valley Hospital taking care of patients. She soon determined that she wanted to do more for her patients, so she went to college and became a registered nurse. Chris then worked as a registered nurse for more than 30 years at both North Valley Hospital in Whitefish, and Virginia Mason Hospital in Washington, Curry General Hospital in Oregon, Curry County Home Health and Hospice. Her life was dedicated to helping people.

Chris loved to hang out with her family and friends and she always made them feel loved. Two of her favorite activities were garage saling and shopping on QVC.

Chris was preceded in death by Erma Rocksund, Erick Rocksund and daughter Courtney Rupp.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Rupp; sons Rich Torgison and wife Cissy and Mike Torgison and wife Teresa; daughter Lyndsay Boyles and husband Caleb; grandchildren, Tosh, Aspen, Charlee and Loren Torgison, and Tyler, Conner and Chloe Boyles; sisters Jillian Sigler and husband Kurt, Carrie Stringer and husband Shannon; brother Norman Rocksund and wife Debbie; her father, Bill Rocksund and his wife Marcie; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at a later date. Austin Funeral Home is caring for Christine’s family.
