Claudia P. Higson, 85, passed away at Mountain View Nursing Home on Nov. 28, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born May 12, 1925 to Tom and Alice Price and graduated from Lincoln County High School in Eureka.

In 1943, she worked shipyards in Oregon as a welder inspector. Moving to Salina, Calif., after World War II, she worked in the prosecutors office. Later she moved to Davenport, Wash., where she drove logging trucks. In 1952, Claudia moved to Columbia Falls, working several years for the U.S. Postal Service. Then 20-plus years with Melby’s Flathead Furniture. After retirement she decided to move back to her hometown of Eureka.

Claudia was married to Bob Higson of Columbia Falls and later divorced. She is survived by a brother, Tom Price of Eureka, and was preceded in death by a sister and her parents.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 11, 2010 at Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with the Reverend Patti Ann Bennett, who is rector of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Burial will be at a later date but immediately after the service lunch will be served at the Senior Citizens’ Center in Eureka.

Claudia loved pinochle and was a “hard-core” advocate for animals. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations go to the Friends of the Shelter, P.O. Box 333, Eureka, MT 59917.
