Carolyn J. Christensen
Carolyn Joyce Christensen, 64, of Bigfork, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, in her sleep at her home in Bigfork.
She was born on Oct. 6, 1945, in Plentywood, the last of seven children, to Leslie and Alice Hedges.
Carolyn graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a bachelor's degree in nursing in 1967 and received her master's degree in health care management from the University of Lavern.
She married David Christensen on June 17, 1967, at the Antelope Lutheran Church. Carolyn practiced as an emergency room nurse and wound care nurse until her retirement in 2004. She saved two lives off duty. She has lived in Iran, Dubai and Indonesia.
She moved to Bigfork with her husband, after her retirement in 2004. Carolyn witnessed the birth of both her grandchildren, Kasen and Soren. She was a dedicated nurse, mother, wife, grandmother and friend. Carolyn loved and supported her son. She believed in love, laughter, travel and to be with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband David Christensen of Bigfork; son, Kai Christensen with daughter-in-law, Sherri, and two grandchildren, Kasen and Soren of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Don Hedges and wife Ardythe of Plentywood; sisters, Evelyn Easton and husband Donald of Billings, and Lorraine Goff of Williston, N.D.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie M. Hedges; mother, Alice (Erickson) Hedges; sisters, Sonja Lee and Sandra Flom; and brother, Weldon Hedges.
Memorial services were held Friday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions can be made in Carolyn's name to Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp, 603 Main Street, Kalispell, MT, 59901.
