Slow down
Once again, it's that time of year when wild animals give birth and hatch their young. Soon the young wild creatures will begin to venture out into the world on shaky legs and fragile wings.
Summer is here and the "Wisconsin Avenue and East Lakeshore Drive 500" is back. Come on folks, please slow down. Too many mornings bring us more animals hit by cars needlessly.
These days, it seems everyone is in a hurry. The fact is we need to slow down. Many folks cycle, walk and run up this stretch of road. We need to use some common sense. I challenge all who read this to open your eyes, slow down, smell the flowers, feed the birds, watch and smell the rain, and enjoy all the beauty that our state has to offer.
The mountains and views are not going anywhere, so take your time and leave earlier, because 15 or 20 minutes are not worth the ticket or, even worse, your or someone else's life.
So let's just slow down and enjoy this awesome state we are fortunate to live in. I thank you and so do the innocent young lives you help save and keep wild.
