Senators top Twins twice
The Glacier Twins dropped a pair of games at the Legion Class AA Helena Senators on Saturday, losing 6-0 in game one and 9-3 in the nightcap.
The Twins had four hits in the non-conference opener from Trevor Miller, Zach Maassen, Jeremy Neilson and Kyler Blades, but struggled to push any runners across.
Brad Rook scored the win for the Senators with six innings of scoreless pitching.
Game 2 was more competitive, with Glacier tallying eight hits over seven innings, but the result was the same. After going scoreless for two innings, Helena scored one in the third before adding another three runs in the fourth to open up a 4-0 lead.
Glacier added three runs in the fifth and sixth innings off RBIs from Neilson and Dustin VonFeldt, who knocked a two-RBI hit in the sixth. Miller finished 3-4 with a run.
Despite the rally effort, the Senators were too much down the stretch, scoring five runs to close out the game.
Chuck Churchill, who went 3-3 at the plate, earned the win on the mound for Helena.
The Twins (0-4) travel to Great Falls to meet the Electrics May 1 for a conference game. Their first home game is slated for May 8 against Belgrade at Memorial Stadium.
