The Columbia Falls girls tennis team had some highs and lows last week. On Thursday at home they won just one match against Polson, but over the weekend they beat Stevensville 8-1 and lost to Corvallis 6-1.

The Kats, like the boys squad, were missing athletes because of the district music festival.

"It's too bad we were missing some kids because I believe we matched up well against Corvallis," coach Jerry Smalley said. "It was the best effort of the year by Lexie, Marissa and Gabrielle."

Against Stevi, the girls saw some impressive play by the doubles squad of Sierra Bauer and Rachael Hagadone, who came up from JV and got a varsity win.

"Wow, they really hung in there to win a third set tie break," Smalley said. "It was a real confidence builder for them."

The Kats face Whitefish at home today (Thursday). Matches start at 3:30 p.m.
