Vals escape snow for win in Eureka
It took the Bigfork girls tennis team traveling to Eureka to find courts dry enough to play on Tuesday, but the Vals managed to do it and come back to a snow-covered Bigfork with a 6-0 victory.
Jade Bosic defeated Casey Armstrong, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 1 match. Kelly Deaton won her first match of the season as she beat Eureka's No. 2 singles player Karina Hofstee, 6-3, 6-3. Claire Wilken earned a win with her 6-1, 6-4 win over Angela Bailey. McKinze Shults was victorious in her No. 4 singles match with Veda Henion, 6-2, 6-0.
In doubles play, Hannah Barret and Carolina Tietzel played in the No. 1 spot for Bigfork and defeated Shelby Taurman and Shannon Stein, 6-1, 6-3. Kianna Wicklund and Ariel Stallknecht won the No. 2 doubles match over Marissa Jones-Flaget and Ashley Brown, 6-0, 6-4.
The Vikings were to host Thompson Falls on Tuesday, but due to the snow in Bigfork the match had to be canceled.
Bigfork's boys and girls teams will be back in action Tuesday, April 20, when they host Glacier High School.
