Egg hunt brings joy to all ages Letter from the editor

Verdie Malgrun carefully extracted each of her vibrant blue and pink Easter eggs from the vinegar water last week as she decorated them. The blue were her favorites.

She wasn't to keep the eggs though.

Malgrun was one of two dozen residents at Lake View Care Center in Bigfork who spent afternoons decorating eggs last week. The 90 dozen eggs the Lake View residents lovingly colored then served Saturday's Masonic Lodge hunt at Bigfork Elementary School, where local children scrambled to gather as many as they could into their baskets. Before that, the eggs were boiled in the Bigfork school kitchens.

These efforts expand the event from something just for the area's youth to a time to be remembered by all.

Bigfork's Easter egg hunt is a perfect example of a way to develop community spirit. Each year it brings joy to both its youngest and oldest residents and all those in between who get to witness or partake in the spring-time fun. More events should be like it in terms of finding ways to remember and involve all of Bigfork's residents.
