Linabary named as WSN editor

Jasmine Linabary has been named as the new managing editor of The Bigfork Eagle and West Shore News.

"It's an honor and a privilege to come into this position," Linabary said. "I look forward to carrying on the tradition of providing quality, award-winning news sources for the area."

Linabary comes to the Flathead area from eastern Idaho, where she has been the managing editor of The Jefferson Star and The Shelley Pioneer.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications from Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash. There she served as editor in chief and then as the first online editor of the award-winning student newspaper, The Whitworthian.

"We are pleased to have her as part of our team," said Tom Kurdy, publisher of Flathead Publishing Group.

Her background includes experience and research work in the aspects of putting together newspapers as well as the future of the news industry.

"I value the innovation going on in the industry today and hope to continue to keep The Bigfork Eagle and West Shore News at the forefront," Linabary said. "I also recognize that, regardless of the medium, journalistic values such as quality and accuracy are still the most important assets to news organizations."

Linabary is a Montana native. She was born in Helena and lived for a time in Great Falls.

"I love the region – its beauty as well as its people. I'm excited to work in the state," Linabary said.
