Whitefish’s First Thursday Gallery Nights will take place at more than a dozen downtown art galleries on Thursday, Sept. 3 (tonight), from 6-9 p.m.

The 21st annual Bigfork Ducks Unlimited Banquet will take place at Brumar Estate, in Bigfork, on Thursday, Sept. 3, with a social hour beginning at 5 p.m. and the banquet beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a live auction with a special group of six Ducks Unlimited guns engraved in gold and a deluxe gun safe, as well as a silent auction and raffle. Twenty-one guns will be available. Tickets are $50 single, $75 couple and $295 for sponsor couple. Order tickets prior to Aug. 22 to enter a second raffle for the Early Bird gun. Whitefish CARE will sponsor The Back to School Bash on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Smith ball fields near the hospital from 5 to 8 p.m. The event is free and intended for all students in the Whitefish School District and their families. Last year, more than 2,500 people attended the fundraiser for Whitefish CARE, which works to promote a safe and drug-free school environment and to network with the community through education, intervention and prevention to support healthy lifestyles for youths. The Center for Restorative Youth Justice in Kalispell will host a free community presentation on “Restorative Justice and Peacemaking in the Global Community.” Mark Umbreit, an internationally recognized practitioner and scholar, will discuss the history and benefits of restorative justice on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Room 203 of the Arts and Technology Building at Flathead Valley Community College.
