Remembering to give thanks
In keeping with the spirit of today's holiday celebration, I'd like to share a few of the things we here at the Bigfork Eagle are thankful for this year.-We are thankful that we live in a place that gets festive for the holiday season. Christmas in Bigfork is a remarkable time and it's thanks to the efforts of hundreds of community members that continues to be true.
See page A3 to get a glimpse of how it all comes together.
-Even on tough and stressful days, we are all thankful to be employed in this current economy.
We know there are thousands of others who are out there searching for jobs, since the unemployment rate is above 10 percent nationally, and we are thankful not to be among them.
-We appreciate our nearly daily visits from cartoonist Jerry Sprunger, who pays special attention to asking how we are doing and making sure we are taking time for ourselves. We also thank Jerry for his continued efforts to bring a bit of humor to our paper through his weekly cartoons.
-On deadline days especially, we are thankful for our candy jar.
That little bit of extra sugar goes a long way in keeping us going. And we give extra thanks to CSR Bonni Pedersen who always makes sure it's filled.
-We are thankful for local coffee and lunch providers, as we frequent many Bigfork businesses each week.
We don't know what we'd do without our regular chai teas.
-We regularly give thanks for all of the people who willingly provide assistance to us each week that makes it possible for us to deliver this newspaper to you.
Their contributions range from calling with story ideas to helping identify people in photographs and verifying facts. Thank you all for your time and assistance.
-Most importantly, we are thankful for all of you for continuing to turn to us each week as your source of news and information about happenings in the Bigfork community.
Without you, where would we be?
Happy Thanksgiving.
