The Bigfork Eagle launched a new Web site last week, expanding the features and content at http://www.bigforkeagle.com.

"It's a big step up from our old site and we're very excited about it," said Managing Editor Alex Strickland. "It's a great addition to our print product."

New additions like a business directory and multimedia slideshows will augment the content from the newspaper that is also posted online, according to Strickland.

The revamped Web site provides readers with a smoother, more streamlined navigation bar and better access to features like classified ads and photo reprints. An events calendar that covers all of the Flathead as well as a more Bigfork-specific events page are also new features.

"This site has been in the works for a long time and it really expands the ways in which we can serve readers," Strickland said.

Along with the expanded capabilities, Strickland said he hopes the site can have an expanded presence in the community.

"One thing it really opens the door for is more breaking news and other updates between editions of the newspaper on Thursdays," he said. "Whether it's sports scores after a game or severe weather on the way, we hope our readers will check our Web site to stay updated."
