Whitefish skiers heading for championship races

| March 11, 2009 11:00 PM

Five members of the Whitefish Mountain Resort Race Team have qualified for championship events so far this season.

In the 13-14 age group, Erin Tabish, of Whitefish, and Anna Jobe, of Kalispell, qualified for the Junior Olympics races on March 17-21 in McCall, Idaho.

Nevada Kramer, of Whitefish, also qualified for the event in the 11-12 age group. Only three boys in that age group will be selected from the division encompassing all of Montana and parts of surrounding states.

Michela Millette, of Whitefish, and Madeline Williams, of Seeley Lake, have been invited to the Junior Olympic equivalent for the 15-16 age group — the Western Region Junior Championships, which will be held at Schweitzer Mountain, Idaho, on March 7-12.

All five of these student-athletes are on the Gold Honor Rolls at their schools — there’s only a single B grade among them.

The Whitefish Mountain Resort Race Team coaches have done an amazing job with the athletes, and Whitefish Mountain Resort has provided a world class environment for them to train on through the season.

Funding for the team is provided through program fees paid by the families and the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation, founded 1973.
