Thanks for help with dog

| July 29, 2009 11:00 PM

This last weekend, out on my walk, a dog that was being walked with the owner bit me. The owner did not give me any information of who she was or where she lived. I did report the incident to the Whitefish Police Department, and they started looking for her.

I did have to go to the doctor, as the bite did break the skin. The doctor said I needed to find the dog for proof of rabies or I would have to start rabies shots.

The city dog catcher, Bill Wilson, spent his shift on Sunday looking for the owner and the dog, driving all over. Then on Monday, he started going from door to door as the doctor said I would have to start the shots soon.

In talking to other people and asking around, we did find the person and the dog, which was current with its shots.

I just wanted to give a big thank you to Bill Wilson and the police department for all the extra effort in finding the dog.

The owner was very sorry for everything, but the lesson here is for the dog owner to step up, whether you think the bite is bad, and give the information out and not just walk away, and also for the person who got bit to try to get the information. This would have save a lot of time and worry for everybody involved.

Once again a great big thank you for Bill Wilson and the police department.
