It’s official — the Bulldogs are on a roll.

The Whitefish boys earned their fifth-straight victory with a 66-55 performance in Polson on Saturday night.

Whitefish, 7-4 overall and 3-2 in Northwestern Class A, is now tied with the Pirates for second place in the conference behind Libby.

The last time these two teams met on Whitefish’s home court, the Pirates dominated the entire game with stingy defense and a quick and confusing passing attack. Saturday night was a completely different story, as seven different Bulldogs got on the scoreboard.

Colt Idol led all scorers with 19 points and seven rebounds. Aaron Tkachyk, who has come on strong during the ‘Dogs’ hot stretch, had 15 points. Matt Whitehead dropped five, Josh Backer had nine, Conner Silliker had six and David FauntLeRoy had nine.

The Bulldogs outscored Polson 20-12 in the second quarter to take a 33-28 lead at the half. They also scored 21 points in the final frame.

The Whitefish boys travel to Ronan on Friday night for their first meeting with the defending Northwestern A champions this year. The varsity game begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Ronan Event Center. The Bulldogs then host Libby on Saturday, with first place in the conference at stake.
