Wildcats roll past Bigfork, 71-42

Columbia Falls improved to 4-5 in the Northwestern A Conference with a 71-42 boys basketball victory over Bigfork on Thursday night (Feb. 19) in Bigfork. The Wildcats close the regular season by hosting Ronan on Saturday.

The Wildcats started quickly, outscoring the Vikings 20-5 in the first period and led 29-17 at halftime. CFHS outpointed Bigfork 42-25 in the second half.

Freshman Austin Barth had the best game of his varsity career, leading the Wildcats with 15 points. Grant Getts added 11, and Mitchell Wassam had nine. Scott Taylor led the Vikings with 10 points.

CFHS will have either the fourth or fifth seed in the Northwestern A Divisional Tournament Feb. 26-28 in Kalispell. The Wildcats will face Ronan in a first-round game at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 at Glacier High School. Polson is tentatively the No. 3 seed and would play No. 6 Bigfork at 4 p.m. Feb. 26 at GHS. Whitefish, the top seed, and No. 2 Libby have first-round byes - if Libby finishes second in the conference.

Admission cost to the Divisional Tournament is $10 for adults and $8 for students, per session. There are four sessions. An all-session general admission pass may be purchased for $25 per person. All-session passes are available only until 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. They will not be sold during the tournament.
