He was there

In response to your Feb. 12 article “City responds to Realtors’ ‘doughnut’ brief” and the statement by former Montana Supreme Court justice Terry Trieweiler, when he was discrediting the efforts by the Northwest Montana Association of Realtors when he stated NMAR’s efforts “have been the subject of severe criticism by numerous members, particularly those who sell real estate in Whitefish.”

I was present along with approximately 40 other Realtors. To set the facts straight, the minority few who voiced their displeasure of NMAR’s representation was made primarily by the Realtors from the real estate firm RE/MAX (Joe Basirico, Alan Elm and others), who over the past few years handled the majority of real estate transactions for the city of Whitefish.

They have been on the receiving end of hundreds of thousands of dollars in commissions for their real estate-related services to the city.

In my opinion, it seemed obvious at that meeting, they were only defending the hand that feeds them.
