Duncan R. Campbell, 91
Duncan R. "Scotty" Campbell, 91, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2009, at his residence in Bigfork.
He was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Butte, the oldest of four sons of Duncan R. and Martha (Trenerry) Campbell.
He graduated from Butte High and then the University of Montana in 1941, just in time to join the U.S. Army. He was a staff sergeant, serving as editor of an Army newspaper in Kauai, and was later transferred to Honolulu, on the staff of Stars and Stripes. He served from 1941 until 1945.
After the war, Scotty worked in Chicago, where he met his wife Barbara "Bobbi" Dobbin. In May 1947, they married and he accepted a job with the Montana Standard in Butte. He served in various positions with the paper until he was named publisher in 1967. He retired in 1979.
Scotty was active in many Butte organizations. He was president of Active Club, Rotary Club, YMCA, vice president of the Country Club, was on St. James Hospital Advisory Board, Chamber of Commerce, vestryman at St. John's Episcopal Church, Board of Governors Pacific Northwest Newspaper Executives, director of Model Cities Board, Montana Council of Boy Scouts of America, honorary life member of Montana Press Association, and when he moved to Eagle Bend, he was on the E.B. Homeowners Association Board, joined the Christmas Elves, and became a member of the Dirt Bags, a Bible study group.
He is the author of a book titled "Perhaps It's God's Plan," privately published. He enjoyed singing, and sang with groups at Butte High School, Montana Tech (then School of Mines' and the University of Montana. He also enjoyed oil painting, primarily doing landscapes of places he and his wife visited. He participated in sports including golf, fishing, bird hunting, cross-country skiing and hiking.
With his wife Bobbi, Scotty spent many winters in the sun, mainly in Arizona and Hawaii, until they settled close to Flathead Lake, first with a small orchard, then a condo in Bigfork, then a home in Eagle Bend.
Scotty is survived by his wife; daughter Rae Renne and husband Mike of Great Falls; son Duncan Campbell and wife Michelle of San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law Olga Campbell of Bozeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Ferndale. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, 105 S. Crane Mountain Road, Bigfork, MT 59911, or to the charity of your choice.

Carolyn Ann Henes, 53
Carolyn Ann Henes (Touchette), 53, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009.
She was born in Missoula on June 10, 1956. She was the first child of Louis and Lori Henes. She was married to Rick Touchette of Missoula for 17 years.
She worked with children for most of her life, most recently at the Bigfork Montessori.
She also enjoyed cooking for friends and family, reading a good book and caring for her many animals.
Carolyn loved helping her friends and family and kept everyone entertained with her great sense of humor and big personality.
She is survived by her three children, Richard "RT" Touchette of San Diego, Brandon Touchette of Deerlodge and Chrystal and Peter Terhune of Denver; her mother, Lori Henes of Bigfork; and six siblings, Michael Henes of Bigfork, Charlie Henes of St. Ignatius, Jim Henes of Bigfork, Louis and Laura Henes III of Missoula, Teanie and Dan Velasquez of Missoula, and Jill and Kim Anschuetz of Huson. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis "Big Lou" Henes, and her daughter, Angel Touchette.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service, and a private family ceremony will take place at a later time.
