CARE support appreciated

| May 29, 2008 11:00 PM

As the school year draws to a close, Whitefish CARE would like to thank the many members of the community for their support in helping CARE address our mission of promoting safe and drug-free schools.

One business that deserves special recognition is Whitefish Subway. As those of you who attended home basketball games know, a new feature has been a sportsmanship award. An athlete from each team was selected by anonymous spectators as coordinated by Whitefish High School athletic director Jackie Fuller.

Each recipient received a gift certificate to Subway, a prize most appreciated. The impact of this recognition has a cumulative effect on the competitive atmosphere and is just one of many ways CARE engages the community with prevention activities.

Sportsman and Ski Haus is another example of a business that has generously supported our active prevention programs, donating valuable raffle items and financially enabling us through advertising and programmatic support.

One of our popular activities is the annual Back To School Bash. This fall's event should prove to be even more fun and informative with the involvement of virtually all extracurricular activities available both inside and outside of the schools.

In addition, this fall's Bash will include a stage with musical and thespian performances, a better organized and broader range of foods available, as well as games, raffle items and a chance for youngsters of all ages to meet with and perhaps even play ball with our varsity high school teams.

So mark your calendars now — the Back To School Bash is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Smith Fields. Have a safe and healthy summer. We will see you at the Bash.
