Babe Ruth Baseball tryouts set April 3 at Sapa-Johnsrud complex

| March 27, 2008 11:00 PM

There will be a Babe Ruth Baseball draft tryout day on Thursday, April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sapa-Johnsrud fields in Columbia Falls. This is for all Columbia Falls and Whitefish players, and is mandatory. Players must bring their gloves and cleats; a protective cup is recommended for infield or catching. If you cannot make this tryout day, you must notify Ray Queen at 253-0857 or Chuck Houston 892-2918 by Monday, March 31. Players not attending the tryout day will not be placed on a team until a second tryout date is set.

Also, for players who are planning on trying out for all-stars, registration I.D. cards will be available on this day. The cost is $1.25 per card, and is charged by Babe Ruth headquarters. The registration cards are used in replacement of having the coaches have the responsibility of carrying players' birth certificates with them during travel. Cards are good for players' entire Babe Ruth career. Players must bring the original or a certified copy of birth certificates with them.

There will be a Glacier Babe Ruth League, Inc. meeting on Thursday, March 27 at the Pin and Cue in Whitefish at 7 p.m. in the banquet room. The public is welcome, and anyone with a player in our league is encouraged to attend.
