Improve high school for us
We are two sixth-graders who are 12 years old from Whitefish Middle School. We want the bond to pass because we have seen Whitefish High School and we do not think the it is a nice high school.
We do not want to go to Whitefish High School unless the building is improved. We think the classrooms are not a good place to be because of some of these reasons.
The computer labs get so hot that they have to open the one window in the room. Also the fumes from the science and biology rooms are atrocious. The ventilation system is terrible. There is no insulation in the building, either. The air ducts are in dreadful conditions and are in the wrong places.
It's no wonder that some high school students don't really want a remodel. They are the students that were in the middle school while it was under construction. So it isn't a surprise that they may not want the bond to pass.
It's true, you can't really see all the problems, some are technical. We really hope you will vote for the school bond. We are the future high school students, and we want it.

Other solutions
Most voters, myself included, feel strongly about the value and importance of our students in Whitefish schools. However, there are many solutions other than the $21.5 million bond we have been asked to vote on.
The proponents want to paint a black-and-white picture of this issue — "If you care about kids, vote yes" — but it isn't that simple. If community members donated time, and others donated building materials and students participated in the solution, we could make this a "community effort" instead of a "community fleecing."
Let's teach our students a little about civics, frugality and economic realities and vote no. Veto this bond and let's go back to the drawing board.
We could give 1,000 teachers a $21,000 bonus for the cost of this bond.
