A proposal to constrict a marina and boat storage facility on the Flathead River was withdrawn last week following a public meeting showing nearly unanimous opposition.

Applicant Pete Rice pulled his application for a 310 permit from the Flathead Conservation District last Tuesday, March 11. That application was one of five he would have needed to obtain in order to go forward with the project, which was located on unzoned land south of Creston on Riverside Road.

A rarely-used bit of Montana code was brought up at that meeting which all but ensured the issue would wind up in district court with neighboring proporty owners and Rice told the Daily Inter Lake last week that he wasn't interested in having to go through such litigation.
