Cost irrelevant
The Whitefish High School modernization and new construction bond election is coming up March 6. After the modernization of Muldown Elementary School and the Whitefish Middle School, it is now time to take a step further and modernize and update the Whitefish High School. Friends of Whitefish Schools has sent out a very nice, informative brochure that tells us all what the issues are we need to address and how much it will cost to complete the job.
We believe that it is not only time to improve the facilities at Whitefish High School, but by doing this it will show the students of Whitefish High School that they matter to us all. It is our duty as caring, concerned parents and taxpayers to provide them with better facilities and not just something that will get them by.
We have a daughter who is a senior at the high school, and both my wife and I have both substituted at all three schools in the district, and we know first-hand what the high school is dealing with.
The classrooms are small, the hallways are even smaller, the electrical system is inadequate, and the labs and computer systems are antiquated. The students even exit the building and re-enter it to avoid the hallway congestion to avoid being tardy to class; this even occurs while it is snowing and cold.
We urge you to contact the high school and attend a tour on March 13 and see for yourself what the concerns are and then make sure that you vote for passage of this important bond election.
What we feel is even more important is what passing of this bond will say to our youth. It says that we care about you and we know that you are the future of this community, this state and this nation.
These youths are going to have to go out in the world and compete with other youths, and we know that they are as good as or even better than their competition. We want them to be prepared.
This is the most important decision that you will make in the foreseeable future. We urge you to make sure that you vote yes and show the youth of this community that we do care about their futures.
It doesn't matter what the cost of this bond issue is — you can't put a cost on the value of a great Whitefish High School education.
Please vote March 6-27 for the passage of the Whitefish High School modernization and new construction bond election.
