Looking for the best Bigfork has to offer

Oh what a difference a day makes. When I used to live here people would always say, "If you don't like the weather in Montana wait ten minutes, it will change." I guess that theory still holds true today, give or take a day or two.

I spent the last week, though, wondering how everyone is spending their time through this roller coaster weather. Many of the people in the area have one lifestyle during the winter and another during the summer. And June is usually considered fairly summer-like around here. So what are we to do? Our snow toys are packed away for the most part and it isn't nice enough to play outside. So as I sit at my desk at the Eagle watching rain pour down, and snow, and then see a big burst of sunshine I have to ask the question, "What do people do all day?"

Since I have far more free time on my hands than I did when I previously lived here, I was already looking forward to bugging all of you to help me discover the best outdoor activities. But now I am really curious to see what the community of Bigfork will be up to this summer. So I am extending an offer to each and every one of you to invite me along with you on your summer adventures. I know that is kind of inviting myself, and that is rude, but I'm new in town and I have never really checked out much of the north end of the Flathead Valley. And besides, everyone likes to be in the paper, right?

So send me an e-mail, sports@bigforkeagle.com, or give me a call, 837-5131, and let me know what you and your friends and family are up to this summer. I'll bring my notebook and camera and we'll show the rest of Bigfork how to have a fun time. Or for those of you not interested in having me tag along (no offense taken, I promise), just send me your story and photos and we'll print the best ones in our Outdoors section.

When I told my friends in Seattle that I was moving here, they told me I was going to be bored out of my mind.

But is one of the greatest places for recreation in the country, in my biased opinion, so I am excited to hear how all of you creative and adventurous people plan to get the most out of the summer months, despite our wild and more unpredictable than usual summer weather.
