Great coaching

Since April 12, my daughter has been playing softball, her fourth year. Last week, her team lost the last two games of the season, which was no surprise since to my knowledge they hadn't won one this spring.

Game after game, they'd go and suffer good plays and bad plays, parents' encouragement, and some discouragement from Columbia Falls' parents.

Here's the rub. My daughter and her best friend on the team came to love the game more than ever. Their skills increased immensely. They tried harder, played better, cheered more intensely, had more fun each game.

I saw sides, aspects and character in my daughter that I had never witnessed before or seen anywhere else. She was an individual and a team player extraordinaire.

I attribute much of the success of this team and my daughter's personal growth to the coach, Kurt Lewis. He gave the girls individual freedom, tips and know-how on hitting, fielding, playing and total non-judgmental encouragement, especially during the games.

I want to express my gratitude to coach Lewis for giving my daughter incredible experiences that empowered her sweetly.
