Construction at Bigfork Elementary School could cause some confusion on Friday as the parking lot — the usual staging area for the 4th of July parade — is unavailable.

Bruce Solberg, director of the Bigfork Chamber of Commerce, said the parade will now line up beginning at Flathead Bank and then backing up Grand Drive to Stage Ridge.

Solberg said the chamber will have people directing traffic on Friday to help allay confusion, but that people should be aware that parking will be at a premium.

The chamber announced on Monday that Kim Jones would be this year's grand marshall. Jones has overseen a large troop adoption program in Bigfork over the last 10 months after her son Todd was deployed to Iraq.

"Kim graciously accepted the position," Solberg said, noting that she would lead the parade just after the color guard.

A highlight each year in Bigfork, the parade will commence at noon, but the lineup for floats and participants will start at 10 a.m.

Call the Chamber of Commerce with any questions or to make sure your float is registered at 837-5888.
