The acquisition of the old Sportsman & Ski Haus building in Kalispell by Flathead Industries spelled the end for the Bigfork Thrift Store, which closes its doors for the last time Friday, Jan. 18.

"We are going to utilize the majority of our resources and have the major component of our business in Kalispell," Flathead Industries CEO Vickie Poynter said.

The Bigfork Thrift Store on Grand Drive behind the fire hall, has been in that location for about 17 years, Poynter said.

The property will be listed for sale after the store closes.

Poynter said the current Kalispell Thrift Store is also closing and that the Kalispell and Bigfork stores will be combined to utilize the larger space provided by the new location.

Mike Allen, head of the Bigfork location, said they stopped taking donations on Monday and that the store will close around 3 p.m. Friday.

Poynter said the Bigfork store has been a valuable one for Flathead Industries and that notices were sent out across the community to thank residents for their support.

"We just wanted to thank the Bigfork community for its support over the years," she said.
