City Court has new hours

Columbia Falls City Court has new hours for 2008. Regular hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Mondays will be scheduled for arraignments only. This time is set aside for citations that require personal appearance in front of the judge to enter a plea. Arraignments begin at 9 a.m.; you must be at court at 9 a.m. to get on the list. If you are not, you will be rescheduled for the next Monday. Examples of these types of charges are (but not limited to): driving while suspended, no insurance, reckless driving, eluding, MIP's, habitual offenders, drug charges, negligent endangerment, unlawful transactions, partner assault, disorderly conduct, DUI's, etc.

Tuesdays are set aside for hearings, such as sentencing, omnibus, status, revocation and the like.

Wednesdays are hearings as well, with orders to show cause and bench warrants reviewed, ruling on motions, etc.

Thursdays are trial days, either non-jury or jury trials. Should a trial be rescheduled, the court will hold sentencing hearings on this day.

On Friday's, it's an open court.
