It was a cold weekend at Whitefish Mountain Resort, but that didn’t stop the hardy from getting in their turns. Snow-making machines put enough moisture in the air to create some breathtaking sundogs on the mountain Saturday, left. The resort reported a settled base snow depth of 34 inches at the summit and 16 inches at the village, but another storm system was headed toward the Flathead by presstime. There was a 90 percent chance of snow on Christmas Eve and a 70 percent chance of snow on Christmas Day. The high temperature on Dec. 25 was expected to be in the mid-20s with a low in the single digits.
