Diane Adams
Diane Kay Adams passed away and went home Sept. 10, 2007, after a yearlong battle with cancer. She left us with dignity and with courage.
Diane was born March 26, 1943, in Oregon City, Ore. This was the beginning of a diverse and joyous life. When the Lord gave us Diane, he gave a true and loyal friend to all who knew her.
Diane attended Oregon City schools through her sophomore year. Her parents then moved to Whittier, Calif. She attended Whittier High School and then Fullerton State College.
In 1963, at the age 19, she applied and was accepted as a Delta Airline flight attendant. This endeavor lasted for about a year. This is when Larry Adams saw her get into her car and he immediately wrote down her license plate, ran it through the DMV and, hence, the beginning of their 44-year romance. It was a great ride for both.
Diane and Larry were married June 20, 1964. Since their union, they have lived in Whittier, West Covina, Newport Beach and Del Mar, Calif. In 1992, they moved to Whitefish, where they have resided since.
Diane’s high school majorette days assisted her in the early years, as she taught ballet and modern dance. She also enjoyed interior decorating and design. Before moving to Montana she was also a broker-owner of a large Century 21 Real Estate firm in Carlsbad, Calif.
If it involved interaction with people and helping them, she just plain excelled. People she hadn’t seen in years would always comment they could pick up a conversation with Diane just like they had never been apart. People always knew once a friend, always a friend.
Diane was a member of the Audubon Society, the Humane Society and Disabled Vets Association. However, her real joy came from being a member of the Chamber of Commerce and its affiliate, the Whitefish Ambassadors. She loved Gone Fishin’ events, grand openings and, of course, Taste of Whitefish. Her Serenity Group was also a very important part of her full life.
Her beloved father, Ben F. Heinz, preceded Diane in death. Theirs was a relationship of great respect, immense love and tenderness, truly a bonded father-daughter.
Diane is survived by her husband Larry; son Mark, in Los Angeles, Calif.; mother Cloma Heinz, in Oregon; and sister Judy McCullough and husband Mike, of Las Vegas, Nev. She adored her entire family and they certainly returned devotion and love.
A memorial service was held Sept. 18, 2007, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish.
The family suggests memorial donations be directed to Hospice of Kalispell Regional Medical Center, which provided exceptional care and love to Diane and her family.
