Eagle gets new editor - Bigfork Eagle

Alex Strickland is the new editor of the Bigfork Eagle, Publisher Tom Kurdy announced on Monday.

Strickland was brought on in September as a reporter and has acted as interim editor since Mike Richeson departed four weeks ago.

Tennessee-born and raised, Strickland attended college at the University of Montana in Missoula where he majored in print journalism and was the editor-in-chief of the Montana Kaimin — UM's independent student newspaper.

Upon graduation he interned as a reporter at the Great Falls Tribune and then worked as a News Editor for UM's University Relations department.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to make the Eagle an even more integral part of the Bigfork community," he said.

Strickland outlined some of his goals for the paper, including an increased emphasis on community news, continued excellence in reporting and bolstered editorial voice.
