Patricia Cannon
After a yearlong battle with cancer, Patricia Elaine Cannon passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2007, at her Edmonds home surrounded by her loving family.
Pat was born July 11, 1927, in Whitefish to Perry and Jean McMurdo and led an athletic and high-spirited childhood with siblings and cousins.
Relocating to Kodiak, Alaska, she attended the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, married and raised her children in Kodiak. She was very civic and politically minded. She served on the school board and was actively involved in many organizations, youth programs and political campaigns.
Partnering with her husband Lloyd, they built a highly successful and well-respected fishing company.
A very wise woman, she was well read and a lifelong learner. Many people have benefited from her generosity and sage words of advice.
Family vacations, holidays, birthdays and life celebrations were extremely important to her. She deserves the "Best Grandma Ever Award."
She was preceded in death by her son Michael; her parents; and her siblings Robert McMurdo, Rex McMurdo and Peggy Taylor.
Pat is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lloyd Cannon; daughters Carolyn Wood and husband Robert, and Susan Longley and husband Larry; grandchildren Angela Rairdon and husband Greg, Heather Roundhill and husband Elton and Sean Wood; great grandchildren Mackenzie, Madelyn and Maeghan Rairdon, Connor and Cassidy Roundhill, and Skyler Wood; and her long-time best friend, Helen Panamaroff.
A memorial service was held Oct. 2, 2007.
