Hislop, Fields named All-State in soccer

Seven Columbia Falls High School players have been named to their respective Northern A All-Conference teams for 2007, including four players from the Wildkat girls team and three from the Wildcat boys squad.

Two players from the girls team — seniors Colyne Hislop and Jylisa Fields — were honored as part of the class A All-State team.

Elected by the league coaches to the girls All-Conference team in addition to Hislop and Fields were seniors Lindsey Henning and Kate Anderson. The top seven vote-getters of the 16 on the All-Conference are All-State picks. CFHS sophomore Kassi Hebert received honorable mention.

Named to the girls All-State team from state runner-up Whitefish were senior Alissa LaChance and junior Carly Lengstorf. Among the other all-staters are senior Quinn Wilson of Libby, junior Heather Howell of Polson, and sophomore Logun Koch of Bigfork.

Elected to the boys All-Conference team from Columbia Falls were senior DJ Stoneman, and juniors Travis Pete and Chase Jackson. The Wildcats had no All-State selections.

State champion Whitefish, which went undefeated in back-to-back seasons, placed six players on the class A All-State team, all seniors. They are Tyler Gardner, Shane Widdifield, Alex Konopatzke, Preston Taylor, Jonas Magstadt and Matt Grindrod. Bigfork senior Roland Benedict was also an All-State pick.

Bigfork — Roland Benedict (Sr.) and Bobby Denning (Sr.).

Polson — Andy Manley (Sr.).

GIRLS

Marcille, Ladenburg earn All-Conference in volleyball

A pair of Columbia Falls players, senior Sarah Marcille and junior Alyssa Ladenburg, have been named to the All-Conference in Northwest A volleyball for the 2007 season.

Marcille and Ladenburg were second-team All-Conference selections.

Elected to the first team were seniors Ashley Ferda and Brielle Menegazzi of Whitefish; seniors Brooke Hageness and Megan Wedel, and sophomore Jackie Mee of Libby; and senior Alyssa Fierro of Bigfork. Ferda, Menegazzi, Fierro and Hageness were named to the All-State team in class A.
