Bulldog teams end perfect season

The Whitefish boys and girls tennis teams defeated both Libby and Bigfork this week to end regular season play with perfect records overall.

The two teams will play in divisionals this week at Flathead Valley Community College and at The Summit starting Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

"Bigfork has improved tremendously," said Kathy Cummings, coach for the boys team. "We were challenged again, and we need to just focus on basic skills and get the job done quicker."

The boys tennis team has three players who haven't lost a match so far this season — Matt Harris, Ian Hosek and Ryan Rottenbiller.

"I'm very proud of the kids, they worked really hard. I look forward to divisionals and state," Cummings said.

The boys defeated Libby 7-0 on Friday and beat Bigfork 5-2 on Saturday. Chase Pierce defeated the Loggers' Cody Ercanbrack 6-0, 6-0 in his match.

Harris, Rottenbiller and Hosek are seeded first, second and fourth at divisionals. In doubles, Brendan Viscomi and Kyle Jacobson are seeded third.

For the girls, Menegazzi is seeded first, and Kate Whitaker and Kimberly McIntyre are seeded third for doubles.

The girls defeated Libby 6-1, but during the competition, Brielle Menegazzi lost her first match to Libby's Jackie Mee, 6-3, 6-1. The girls defeated Bigfork 5-2 and Libby 6-1.
