CFHS 40th reunion

| March 22, 2007 11:00 PM

Heritage Days is becoming traditional time for Columbia Falls High School class reunions. The 2007 celebration is no exception.

I can't recall who had the most perfect description of high school class reunions. She noted the 10 years event is spent boasting about husbands. Ladies gather to tell about their children and accomplishments during the 20th class reunion. A class reunion observing 30 years is usually skipped for no apparent reason. However, next comes the 40th class reunion when it's time to visit and enjoy reminiscing.

Personally, I am aware the 50-year and the 60-year class reunions serve the same purpose. Name tags are printed larger every 10 years.

Heritage Day reunions include the 40th for the CFHS Class of 1967. Planning is underway with July 27-29 scheduled for the get-together. Former teachers, including Jim Ward, class sponsor, are invited to participate.

Class officers were Jack Polzin, president; Jim Bengston, vice president; Judy Stempin, secretary; Janet Abel, treasurer; Glenn Leitz, Student Council representative.

Heritage Days activities will form informal socials for this class reunion. These include attending the Wildcat Athletic Endowment benefit auction and barbecue, Friday night, in Columbia Falls. Class members will participate in the Saturday parade in Columbia Falls. The annual Wildcat scramble golf tournament in West Glacier, Sunday, will attract others.

Class reunion barbecue is scheduled for Saturday, July 28, with place to be announced.

A Class of 1967 donation to the CFHS Wildcat Endowment, a permanent fund which provides support for Wildcat activities, is arranged. All monies will be given to the Endowment as a permanent benefit in memorial of deceased Class of 1967 members. Contributions are to be made to the class fund and one check will be written to the Foundation.

Reunion planning committee members are Dee Lyngstad Brown, Cyndy Gochanour Deist, Connie Craft Kenfield, Gail Shay Linne, Gayle Barnhart Reeves, Sherri Cain Wendlick and Bill Dakin.

The CFHS Class of 1967 is trying to locate the following classmates for the summer reunion. They are David Agner, Fred and Mary Ann Baldwin, Len Carter, Mike Collins, Larry Coryell, Jack Dutzar, Jance and Jerry Ereth, Janice Farley, Linda Helseth, Jim Howard, John Irvine, Andy Jacobson, Rick Jimison, Lee Kaiser, Linda Miller, Gary Stephenson, Mildred Snyder and Duane Trannum.

Anyone knowing whereabouts of these classmates, friend, or family member is asked to call Cyndy Gochanour Deist at 755-3942 or Gail Shay Linne at 892-1935.
