Don C. Walker, 79,

of Kalispell Montana passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, after a two year battle with cancer. Don was born 1928 in Randlett, Utah, the son of Jeremiah and Charlotte Geneva Walker.

He was the youngest of seven children. Don’s growing up years were spent on horse back working on ranches. He became an expert roper and horse trainer. After graduating from Uintah High school in 1947 at Vernal, Utah he served in the U.S. Navy. Don married Anna Louise Peterson in 1952 and they had four children. He was employed with Halliburton Company for 20 years. The family moved to Kalispell Montana in 1972 and purchased the Vacationer Motel and Cedar Bay Lodge Resort on Swan Lake. In the 1980’s he returned to the oil field as a drilling consultant throughout the intermountain west.

Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna Louise (Peterson) Walker, and three of their children, Wade Walker and wife Ronda (Remington) of Kalispell; Shelli (Walker) Nye and husband Mark of Pittsburg, PA; and Eric Walker and wife Katrina (Herrick) of Provo, UT. Surviving family also includes 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Don will be deeply missed by friends and relatives who knew him for his sense of humor, honesty, and work ethic. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Monday Feb. 26, 2007 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Whitefish Stage Rd. in Kalispell with Bishop Cattron presiding. Visitation will take place 9:30 until the time of service. Burial will be in the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

Donald E. Schweigert,

age 74, passed away on Tuesday, February, 20, 2007 at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 21, 1932 at Plevna, Montana the son of John S. and Clara (Christman) Schweigert.

He was educated in Ekalaka, Montana until enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, he began his lifelong work as an operating engineer, building roads all over the state and also in Wyoming and Washington. He loved his work. He enjoyed being around his family and friends. He and his long time companion, Dolores Wagner, spent several winters in Arizona. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union for 40 + years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his long time companion, Dolores Wagner of Whitefish, MT; his 4 children, Ken Schweigert and wife Nancy of Butte, MT; Tracy Stieferman and husband Dennis of Jefferson City, MO; Tammy Schweigert and Lori Schweigert both of Billings, MT; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter Jennalee Wilkerson of Kalispell, MT; 2 brothers, Ken “Whitey” Schweigert and wife Audrey of Ekalaka, MT; Charles Schweigert and wife Arlene of Billings, MT; 3 sisters, Eleanor Talkington and Gloria Preuss both of Ekalaka, MT and Carol Hofiedt and husband Paul of Miles City, MT and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Don were on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Paul Ogle officiating. There will be no visitation. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Northwest Health Care Cancer Fund, 310 Sunnyview Lane, Kalispell, MT 59901 or to the Charity of the donor’s choice.

Shannon Lee (nee Glenn) Wasell,

47, went to be with her Lord Jesus, on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at her home in Kalispell, surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous, two year battle with cancer. She faced her illness fearlessly, without complaint and with unwavering faith. She was born on November 13, 1959 to Pat and Alice Glenn in Seattle, Washington and grew up in the Enumclaw area. She graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1977 and attended Highline Community College.

For many years Shannon worked at Leo’s Clothing Store in downtown Enumclaw. She married the love of her life, Greg Wasell, on July 29, 1978. One of Shannon’s greatest joys was being the mother of Kellen, now 20 and Meisa 16.

Shannon’s faith and love for her Lord Jesus led her and Greg to be active in Faith Center of Buckley and later joined Rainier Hills Fellowship Church in Buckley.

In 1994, Shannon and Greg moved to Puyallup, WA, as house parents of New Beginnings Maternity Home. Here she influenced the lives of many young women in crisis situations. After four years they moved to Lakeside, Montana and joined Youth With A Mission as Youth Coordinators.

Shannon is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Glenn Anoskey, her grandparents, and her uncle Mike Glenn. She is survived by her loving husband Greg, son Kellen, daughter Meisa; father Patrick and stepmother Terry Glenn, sisters Kelly (George) Boles, Erin (Greg) Spaulding, brother Tom Glenn, and numerous nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins as well as many friends.

A memorial service was held at New Covenant Fellowship on Birch Grove Road in Kalispell, Montana at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2007. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be sent to the Wasell Medical Fund: Glacier Bank, 202 Main St., Kalispell, Montana 59901.

James Seymour Fulford,

86, “went home to be with Lord” on Feb. 20, 2007, the day after turning 86. James was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Monroe, La., and was raised in Bastrop.

He joined the U.S. Navy at 18, and served from 1940 to 1946. He served as an airplane mechanic aboard several aircraft carriers but while serving on the Wasp at Guadal Canal, at the height of World War II, it was sunk. His story was reported in The Daily Inter Lake last summer, when he and his fellow shipmate, Russ Roy, of Kalispell were reunited.

He met and married Betty Rose Kudlacek in San Diego where Betty Rose was a true “Rosy the Riveter.” They married in 1943 and lived separate lives while Jim finished out the war.

They moved to Longview, Wash., where they raised two girls and two boys before retiring from the U.S. Post Office. They moved to Bigfork in 1976, and three of their children moved with them. Jim was a lover of the outdoors, especially hunting and horseback riding. Jim was a former member of the Back Country Horseman. He raised and rode horses as long as his health would allow him.

He was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Longview, Wash., serving as an elder until he moved to Montana where he again served as elder of the Little Brown Church. He later attended the Bigfork Chapel. Jim and Betty Rose left a legacy of faith with all their offspring to the third generation serving God.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Rose; and children, Linda Bradford and her husband, Del, of Olympia Wash., Rosemary Lafever and her husband, Jim, and Kirk Fulford and his wife, Debbie, all of Bigfork, and Brian Fulford and his wife, Gina, of Kalispell. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kyle Fulford.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the Bigfork Chapel to celebrate his life. All friends and loved ones are welcome to attend.

Robert Lee Boegler

passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007 in his home surrounded by family.

He was born August 21, 1938, to Ernest William Boegler and Matilda Jeannette Olson joining two sisters in the family home in Glasgow, Montana. They moved to Absarokee, Montana shortly after the Bear tooth Mountains became his playground and the love for them never left him. After high school, he married Judith Mae Haun on September 21, 1957 and they moved into a home in Billings, Montana where he worked in the retail grocery industry.

In 1973, they then decided to return to Montana and settled for good in the Flathead Valley near Bigfork. They purchased the Woods Bay Market and later operated the Blue Bay Resort and Camino Bar in Polson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Virginia Marie Lorenz and Adele Opal Milohov. He left behind his wife of 49 years, daughter Debi and her husband John Singer (Heidema), Amanda Gayle Singer (Buttars), J. Zachary Hamilton, Matthew Ron Singer, Rhiana Jennette Singer, Cassondra Nicole Singer, and Jillian Marie Hamilton. In addition he leaves five great-grandchildren, bestfriend Jim Craft, his dogs Lady and Lassie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on February 27 in the Chapel at the Bigfork Funeral Home.
