Rain doesn't dampen Bulldog Open event

Another great Bulldog Open was held on Father’s Day, with more than 300 players participating in the 2007 event. Even though the rain tried to dampen the golf, the players all had a great time.

This year’s event was yet another example of the community of Whitefish coming together to support youth activities.

The fundraiser raised money to support the junior golf program at Whitefish Lake Golf Course and also helps with the high school golf team expenses.

A special thanks goes out to our corporate sponsors — DePratu Ford, Hub International Insurance, American Bank, Glacier Bank, First Interstate Bank, Windermere Real Estate, Markus Foods, Whitefish Lake Restaurant, Sterling Title, State Farm Insurance, Raymond James and other vendors throughout the Whitefish.

The over-all winning team — Kerry Kerrington, Corey Kangas, Joe Hutchens and Garth Gross — fired a net score of 55.25 over the North Course. The team members won new wristwatches sponsored by First Interstate Bank.

In all, more than $5,000 was awarded in merchandise to the competitors in both flight winners and drawings.

Couple’s Event

Don’t forget to sign up in the Golf Shop for the Sunday, June 24, Couple’s Event. These are fun-filled events with a variety of formats, including best ball, Chapman’s orange ball and other more unique tournaments with great prizes.

State Junior Golf

Sam Krause, Quinn Micklewright, Ryan Zalucky, Reed Platke, Chelsea Ray, Kylie McConnell and BreAnna Cameron have all qualified to compete in the State of Montana Junior Championship in Bozeman this week.

The top-four competitors will represent Montana in the America’s Cup championship later this summer.

Flathead Junior Tour

The next event for the Flathead Valley Junior Tour will be on July 9 at Cabinet View Golf Course in Libby, followed on July 11 at Whitefish Lake Golf Course.

Interested junior players should register at the Golf Shop to participate in these free events. Parents are responsible for transporting the junior players to and from the events.
