Donations helped kids win

| June 14, 2007 11:00 PM

I would like to send a huge thank you to Greg Lane and Bill Foley for their generous donation to the Destination Imagination State Championship Team from Whitefish.

Their donation enabled the girls to go to the Global Finals of this creative-thinking problem-solving competition in Knoxville, Tenn., along with more than 10,000 kids from 10 countries.

What an amazing chance of a lifetime these young ladies experienced. All participants stayed in the dorms at the University of Tennessee, where they met other kids from Poland, China, Denmark, the United Kingdom, South Korea and all 50 states.

The opening and closing ceremonies had more than 20,000 people in attendance, and I was one proud parent when they announced our local girls as the sixth-place winners in the world.

As usual, there were many other people in our community who helped in some shape or form with this program, but it would not have been possible for these young ladies to go without the generosity of Mr. Lane and Mr. Foley.

It is experiences like these that shape our future. Thanks for making it possible.
