Armed burglar on the loose

A 62-year-old Bigfork woman’s home on Bridger Drive received an unwelcome visitor early Thursday morning.

A 62-year-old Bigfork woman’s home on Bridger Drive received an unwelcome visitor early Thursday morning, Flathead County Sheriff Mike Meehan said.

The woman was watching television shortly after midnight when she looked up and saw an armed intruder standing four or five feet away from her, Meehan said. She complied with his demands and after taking an undisclosed amount of money, he left the home without injuring her.

She described the burglar as about 5’8” with a husky build and dressed in dark clothes, Meehan said.

“This is quite rare,” he said of the burglary. “We’re taking it pretty seriously.”

Meehan requested that anyone with information about the crime should call the sheriff’s office at 758-5610.
