Barbara Shryock

Barbara F. (Gosney) Shryock, 94, died peacefully at her home in Bigfork, on Flathead Lake, on Nov. 23, 2007.

She was born Sept. 14, 1913, the youngest of 10 children. She attended Deer Park Elementary School in Columbia Falls, and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1931. She was employed in Kalispell and Spokane.

Barbara is most remembered for the love and care she gave to her family, her unwavering faith and unending devotion to serving others in any way she could.

With a spirit of selflessness, Barbara and Lester shared their home on the lake with family and friends since 1960. She, as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, lived a Godly life of grace and hospitality until the very end.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, nine siblings, one grandson, Ty Willis, and her beloved husband, W.L. Shryock.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, B. Arminta Willis-Rector, in Spokane; a son, William D. Shryock, in Houston; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Bigfork Baptist Church, located on Highway 35, in Bigfork. A dessert reception will follow.
