Hole-in-one club
Scoring a hole-in-one is usually a very rare occurrence, even for the professional golfer. Tell that to Daryl Nygard who just carded his second one in the last month on the same hole.
I don't know what the odds are of that happening, but he should buy a lottery ticket soon. Daryl hit his six-iron into the cup on hole number three of the South Course on July 30. The hole was playing around 155 yards long at the time.
Mike Watson, former football standout at Whitefish High School and now a college golfer at Montana State University-Billings, carded his hole-in-one on number six of the North Course using a pitching wedge for the 140-yard shot.
High school golf practice
The first official day of golf practice for the Whitefish High School golf team will take place Aug. 13 at 9 a.m.
All players are to report to the Whitefish Lake Golf Course and have their physical and consent forms completed. Forms are available at the golf shop or the Whitefish School district main office in Whitefish Middle School.
Practices will last at least two hours, and longer for those who wish to qualify for the first tournaments of the year.
The varsity will have their first tournament on Aug. 20-21 in Great Falls, with the junior varsity team also scheduled to compete that week.

Club Championship
The 2007 Whitefish Lake Club Championships will be held Aug. 11 and 12 with divisions for the junior golfer, women, men and seniors.
Registrations for the event are available in the golf shop where entry fees may be paid. All members are invited to participate in the event.
Member-guest tourney
The very popular Whitefish Lake Golf Club member/guest tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 and 26.
The field for this event fills quickly, so it is imperative to get two-man teams registered early.
Play will again be a best ball format on day one and a modified Stapleford on day two.
