Practices for CFHS fall sports begin Aug. 13

Practices for Columbia Falls High School fall sports, including soccer, football, volleyball, cross country and cheerleading, begin on Monday, Aug. 13. Athletes out for golf meet on Wednesday, Aug. 15. The practice and try-out times were posted by the individual coaches at the high school prior to Tuesday's meeting.

Participants are reminded that they must have a physical exam before being allowed to practice in any of the fall activities, and there are no exceptions.

Here are the meeting/practice times, with the names of head coaches and their phone numbers:

Aug. 13

Boys' soccer — 9 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m.; Peter Browne, 862-0650.

Girls' soccer — 7:30 to 9 a.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m.; Greg Trenerry, 387-5633.

Volleyball — 8 to 11 a.m. for grades 10-12, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for grade 9; Addy Hines, 249-7092.

Football — 8 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.; John Thompson, 892-6500, ext. 226.

Cross country — 7 a.m. at high school track; Steve Gasche, 249-3474; anyone unable to attend the first practice must call Gasche or assistant coach Richard Menicke, 863-9630.

Cheerleading — Contact Thompson.

Aug. 15

Golf — 2:30 p.m. at Meadow Lake Golf Resort; Gene Marcille, 892-3164.
